Nerdful Things – Kindle Oasis Announcement
I love e-books. I love real books too, but nowadays it is quicker and easier (and more convenient) to read on the go on my phone, tablet or my laptop (2-in-1). Amazon have recently added the Oasis to their site, available to pre-order now and it’s due for release on October 31 – a good way to get Halloween off to to a spooky start by blitzing some horror classics!
So what is it and what does it do?
Below are some key points from Amazon’s description:
-
Our largest, highest resolution display-7″ and 300 ppi, reads like printed paper, without glare, even in bright sunlight.
-
The first waterproof Kindle (IPX8), so you are free to read in even more places.
-
Now with Audible you have access to over 200,000 audio titles. Pair with Bluetooth to take the story with you anytime, anywhere.
-
Thin and light ergonomic design with dedicated page-turn buttons and adaptive front light so you can read even more comfortably for hours.
-
Keep reading-a single charge lasts weeks, not hours.
-
Enjoy twice the storage with 8 GB. Or choose 32 GB to hold more magazines, comics, newspapers and audiobooks.
-
Massive selection, low prices-over 5.5 million books including latest bestsellers, Kindle exclusives and more.
-
Prime members read for free with unlimited access to a rotating selection of more than a thousand titles.
I have to admit, the device blows me away. Especially the Wi-Fi + 3G edition – FREE 3G, which will be a huge game changer as there’s no need to pay a mobile network (Amazon provides it for free). This could very well set the trend for other portable devices and is well worth the extra cost without having to have a monthly fee on top!
I won’t re-hash all the details as they’re all available on the Amazon page.
I think I’ve found something to add to my Christmas list this year!
