That Fat Boy Slims – The Ketogenic Diet – Day 9
Today was met with a sluggish start but once I was ready for work I was full of energy and actually felt really good – today was gonna be a good day!
I broke my fast after about seventeen hours and, to be honest, I barely ate today. I had my grapes (smaller amount today) and clementines as well as some cheese and pickled onions on cocktail sticks for the ‘pod party’. My colleague is vegetarian so we had a vegetarian friendly array of food. All of which I couldn’t really touch without fucking myself over. So I settled for about a dozen cheese and pickle cocktail sticks and I avoided pop – mainly because I fancied a rum or gin with some pop this evening.
It was quite tough seeing all the cakes and sandwiches and crisps. If it was feasible, I’d gladly live off sandwiches and crisps. I maintained a good level of self control. I only took my fruit, cheese and Kabanosy and Muller corner yoghurt. I ate half my cheese and Kabanosy (roughly) and didn’t bother with the yoghurt.
I had three lots of quadruple espressos to keep my energy up as I did start to flag around 15:00.
It was quite a good day aside from the heat and the headache. I don’t know if my appetite is shrinking as much as what I’m eating implies or if the heat has more to do with it.
The walk home was pretty energetic and, as I’m off now until the weekend, the joy of no work left me feeling elated. Early start in the morning for the kids getting ready for school etc., though.
I got home and didn’t eat anything else – again, I’m just not feeling hungry. My stomach has been hurting for the latter half of the day and I’ve felt nauseated – not sure if this is the heat or what.
Our ketosis pee strip things came today so I did a quick test when I got home but I’m not sure what colour it is as it doesn’t seem to match the chart so I have no idea what level of ketosis I am in. I think we’ll get the brethalyser at some point instead.
And, of course, I’ve opted for a pink gin with diet lemonade. The gin has more carbs than I’d like but it’s just the one and my carbs aren’t TOO bad – 3g over.
Additional supplements such as Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil etc. we get from Holland & Barett.
