That Fat Boy Slims – The Ketogenic Diet – Day 20
After my late wake-up yesterday I ended up having another today. Much later. I got up outta bed around 10:00. I felt a bit groggy and achy but once I was up and about I was good. I weighed and came in another 2lbs down. That’s 19lbs since starting keto on 18/06/18. I took another half magnesium pill, made my bulletproof coffee and chilled on the sofa for a bit doing my dailies on the Playstation.
After doing a bit of tidying and reading through our new Keto cookbook that arrived yesterday from Amazon, “The Beginner’s Keto Diet Cookbook” I had some inspiration for a meal to cook but I lacked the ingredients. We had most but needed some more bits. I had an e-mail offering money off Holland & Barrett today and I figured I’d order some goodies. So, I ordered 4 lots of MCT oil, some different flavours of liquid stevia, almond flour and garam masala.
I wanted to take the kids out for a walk, so seeing as we needed some shopping we walked to Aldi. I came away without most of the stuff we needed – grabbed a couple of avocados (still haven’t tried avocado yet), some lemons and bananas. Oh, and some mini sausage rolls for the kids. I’d had the intention of walking all the way up to Bike Park Wales to surprise my wife (she works there) and I decided to continue with the plan.
I wasn’t entirely sure on the way by foot as I wanted to go via the Taff Trail but I couldn’t recall any way to get up from there to the A470 in order to cross the Pentrebach roundabout to go up there. So we came off the Taff Trail and walked down towards Pentrebach. We avoided the overpass and walked round the footpath to realise that takes us under the overpass and we ended up going round, full-circle, to where we were and then walking over the overpass. It had me anxious as the cars come tearing round the corner and the kids (or me) wouldn’t stand a chance so I had to keep us bunched up close and in to the side on the grass verge making sure there was no way a car could even clip us at 60mph.
We were fairly lucky that the traffic wasn’t too bad when crossing the dual carriageway but I couldn’t help but feel that the passing drivers were judging my parenting skills. I on the other hand had managed this with almost military-esque precision, so fuck them. It was a long arduous walk, akin to those bastard Hobbits’ and dwarves’ endeavours. We made it and, after six miles of walking, we sat down inside and relaxed. The kids had ice cream and I treated myself to a Diet Coke. We waited for my wife to finish work and we drove home.
Then we ended up going to Asda to grab some more foodstuffs – more ingredients for my planned culinary attempt tomorrow – and a pizza for the kids. Home and chill time. Oh, and dinner. For dinner, we had chicken wings and I had some lettuce, cucumber and Philadelphia with it.
I decided to finish off the rest of my Kraken Rum (I had some diet ginger beer with it) and munched on some almonds while I write this post. Today has been a pretty long and tiring day but the exercise and macros are very pleasing. Hopefully there will be a further few lbs lost when I weigh in the morning!
I currently use Muscle Food and their amazing deals on meat hampers. If you want to grab yourself a great deal, head over here.
Additional supplements such as Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil etc. we get from Holland & Barett.
