Nerdful Things – ’13 Reasons Why Season 3′ Minimalist Review

Quick Thoughts
Do we really need another season? Season one was brilliant, season two started off good and then weakened like a wet paper bag. Season three? Meh. I’ve only watched bits and pieces. I can’t bring myself to sit and actually concentrate on it. It’s monotonous drivel that cashes in on the name season one rightfully owned. Season three is nothing like its initial series. Moping teens occasionally referencing the initial story from season one but mostly worrying about who killed Bryce – the most hated character in the show because well, he was a rapey bastard. Yet now you’re meant to empathise with him. Add an unnecessary English girl to annoy the fuck out of you as she does an impersonation of Clay by running around getting all the gossip and whatever from all the familiar faces. Hopefully she dies in the end.
Verdict
- The English girl makes me want to smash my TV (not saying this because I’m Scottish – I enjoy English actors in most things but there’s something about this one that I cannot stand)
- If moping teens is your bag, go for it
- If you want something intelligent, thought provoking and worthwhile watch season one (even though they’ve removed the most hard-hitting and necessary bits) and venture no farther. If you’ve already seen it, watch something else instead or play Life is Strange
- My wife is watching this and I’m picking up bits of it amidst me reading/listing to Lovecraftian lore but I am hearing and seeing enough to make me full-on rage
- #BritInvasion – let’s just stick Brits in everyfuckingthing
- Please, do not renew this for another season as it is so far removed from the title at this stage it’s more like “give me 13 reasons as to why we should even fucking care”
