Nerdful Things – Platinum Geezer
I did a post on this on my old blog and figured I would resurrect it. My old profile had many hours spent slogging (grinding) away to try and amass as many trophies as I could. A veritable ‘Trophy Whore’ if you will. I found myself renting a plethora of games from Lovefilm (now Amazon Video), games that I’d feel ashamed of looking at in a shop but the desire for trophies was strong and saw me playing the likes of Hannah Montana. I know, right?
Sadly, I lost my account due to me having hacked my PS4 (jailbroken) and Sony banned my console and account. I’d spent hundreds of pounds on games on the Playstation Store that I unfortunately lost. Sucks to be me.
I got a PS4 for Christmas 2014 and, having to start all over again, I created my new profile. I started where I left off – only caring about trophies and not really playing for enjoyment. Over time, I shed my Trophy Whore attitude and started playing games as I once did – to enjoy them and form a sense of escapism.
Strangely, since my focus for trophy hunting has reduced, I’ve ended up gaining almost as many platinum trophies my old profile held in less than half the time. I’ve ended up getting the platinum or progressing a lot further in games I had on my PS3 just by playing and enjoying them as opposed to trying to rush them and move on to the next “challenge”.
So, here is my list of platinums (I will update as I get more) compared to my old list (on the right).
