That Fat Boy Slims – Cooking and Shizz
Anyone that knows me knows I’m not much of a cook. I find it highly stressful and cannot comprehend how or even why people find it therapeutic. There are a couple of things I can and enjoy to cook but for the most part, I hate it.
Obviously, due to the nature of my shifts for work and that I get most weekends off while my wife only works weekends (unless she’s rostered in for days in the week where I’m off) I need to start cooking more and preparing more than my ‘safe’ meals (lasagne, cottage pie, stir-fries etc.) in order to keep us all stocked up and ensure I continue to eat healthy.
As a result, I purchased a triple slow cooker from TJ Hughes in order for us to prep more food than our standalone slow cooker. Despite the size difference (the three pots are tiny in comparison to our main slow cooker) it has served itself well straight after unboxing it. So far, we have made Diet Cola Chicken [link to be added once recipe published] and chilli.
For £29.99, it’s a bargain. Sadly, TJ Hughes have sold out of it but keep checking back as they may have more back in or browse around for other brands/appliances that may be of use to you! Plus, with TopCashback, I’ve had almost £2 cashback – tidy!
Now, I’m not a member of Slimming World and nor do I plan to become one but my wife used to be a few years ago and a lot of the recipes are from Slimming World or at least inspired by their recipes. I plan on publishing my favourites on here so stay tuned (and feel free to share any of your favourite dishes in the comments).
I currently use Muscle Food and their amazing deals on meat hampers. If you want to grab yourself a great deal, head over here. I’ve also been making good use of Funktional Foods‘ maca, wheatgrass and hemp protein powders and Amazon have some great deals (especially if buying in bulk!) – I mainly use the powders in protein shakes but I occasionally add some in our home-cooked meals.
