Welcome to Prog 20 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Shako!‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 9 July 1977.
I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.
For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.
We have a brand new thrill – ‘Shako!‘ – a polar bear who swallows something of grave importance belonging to the CIA!
‘Invasion!‘ has Savage heading elsewhere and pops in to see a mate who can help with vehicle trouble.
The ‘Harlem Heroes‘ finally sus out Artie Gruber‘s disguise as he slips up.
‘Dan Dare‘ races to stop Mekon from killing off the Supreme Council.
‘M.A.C.H.1‘ heads to Japan to keep the British Prime Minister safe and he teams up with a martial artist.
And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Judge Dredd‘. I won’t always pick Dredd, I promise! I just found this strip so comical in that Dredd has a tip off from a fella that oozes 70’s American cop- show lingo and he cracks a case of illegal comic book dealing. The last panel should be reason enough for this to be everyone’s favourite from this Prog. It’s cheesy and unabashedly self-aware.Prog 20 polished off! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 21!
