Welcome to Prog 41 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘, ‘Inferno!‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 3 December 1977.
I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.
For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.
‘Invasion!‘ sees some more collaborator antics and Volgs hunting humans. Again. Being perfectly honest, I’m bored of this strip and want it to wrap up soon.
I wasn’t sure whether to include ‘Bonjo From Beyond the Stars‘ but as it makes a frequent appearance I figured I ought to. He’s a cross between Patrick Star and Cyril Sneer with the appetite of Slimer.
Speaking of appetites, ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘ delivers us some hungry rats that basically eat themselves to death.
‘Dan Dare‘ is boring me as well. More Starslayer action as Dan visits another planet of their control. This time, the inhabitants are what kinda look like the Gromflomites from Rick & Morty.
‘M.A.C.H.1‘ is on a secret mission to stop a Death Ray in part 2 of Death Ray. Yawn.
‘Inferno‘ sees the Heroes‘ integrity brought in to question as the money in their lockers makes it look like they threw the game.
And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Judge Dredd‘ concludes the Mega City 5000 Race story. The story itself wasn’t what drew me to pick this. It’s the Brian Blessed looking fella that did it for me.
Prog 41 processed and sent to the iso-cubes! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 42!
