Welcome to Prog 99 featuring ‘Angel‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Ro-Busters‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 10 February 1979.
Cover Art Robot: Dave Gibbons
Ro-Busters has this weeks cover as the Terra-Meks descend upon Northpool.
My Pick of the Prog in this issue is ‘Judge Dredd‘.
Script Robot: TB Grover
Art Robot: M McMahon
Lettering Robot: Thomas
As Dredd and co descend head first in the roadliner, Chief Judge Cal is informed that his effort to legalise crime (putting the moron into oxymoron…) to win over the adoration of the populace has resulted in crime actually going down. His madness is leading to more than just the citizens discontent with him however… I loved this page showing the vanity of Cal and forcing a Judge to kill himself as he holds him literally to his word. And then the realisation among the other Judges that Cal must be stopped but they’ve killed the only Judge that would have been able to succeed…
Prog 99 sentenced to death by the heinous Chief Judge Cal! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 100 – that’s 100 consecutive days of posts!
