Welcome to my personal Prog slog through 2000AD. Here, I post daily about my favourite story from each Prog. I started doing this as a means of focusing my attention on something. A hobby, if you will. Something that will bring joy and fond memories for fans as well as draw attention to and hopefully bring in new readers to The Galaxy’s Greatest Comic. I have never read these Progs before. I recall reading some of Flesh at some point in my childhood, knew of Judge Dredd from a PlayStation One game and then the 1995 Movie, Rogue Trooper from the PlayStation 2 Game and had heard of other stories and seen other characters from seeing posts online. So I’m pretty much experiencing most of these stories as an intergalactic virgin. Or something. So if you are an established reader whose loyalty to Tharg has been unwavering, or if you’ve dropped off reading 2000AD, lie somewhere in between or if you are a newcomer to The Galaxy’s Greatest Comic then please let me know via the comments or hit me up on my socials!

Without further ado…

Welcome to Prog 400 featuring ‘Ace Trucking‘, ‘The Helltrekkers‘, ‘Nemesis the Warlock‘, ‘Stainless Steel Rat‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 12 January 1985. Wow, 400 Progs. When I first started these blogs, 2000 AD was 2363 Progs in. After 400 daily posts, I am 2018 behind. I know the math don’t look mathy but bear in mind that almost each and every week a new issue comes out so for every seven posts, add 1 additional Prog to do. With the exception of the Christmas period as there’s usually about a two week hiatus, hence the Bumper Progs. Anyway, lets get into it!

Cover Art Robot: Carlos Ezquerra

The Stainless Steel Rat sees some aerial dogfighting on this weeks cover!

My pick of the Prog is: Judge Dredd

Script Robot: T B Grover

Art Robot: Ian Gibson

Lettering Robot: T Frame

We barely sink our teeth into this weeks dose of Dredd before he has his eyes clawed out by one of these massive reptile fellas. How is Dredd gonna see this mission through to the end now? With some tight Lawmaster driving, Anderson manages to get them away from the beasts but her and Dredd get separated as the ground melts and whisks them away in separate directions. The Mutant appears to Dredd although he can’t see it but it talks to him and hints at it’s prior knowledge of Dredd which further reinforces my suspicions of this being something to do with the Judge Child again as the previous storylines around the threat to Mega-City One were at his hands…

Prog 400 gets blinded! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 401.

Florix Grabundae!

Have you read this Prog? If so, what was your favourite strip? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
