The Ralph Report – One Hit Wonder Wednesdays

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Ralph Garman and his time on the Kevin & Bean Show on KROQ.  Since KROQ cut him loose I have been a supporter of the Ralph Report from day one and I’m a proud four-star General of the Garmy (looking forward to my quarterly merch).  One of the fun things about this new venture is, in the short time it’s been going, the evolution of the show.  Just like when I went back and downloaded all the back-episodes of Hollywood Babble-On and SModcast (I was a latecomer to podcasts), seeing the shows evolve and grow has been a tremendous amount of fun.

With Ralph’s solo effort, it’s good to see him do something new – as the man himself puts it, it allows him to be himself; a side of which we don’t really see when he’s teamed up with Kevin Smith or, of course, his long partnership with Kevin & Bean.  He really made that show (I’m yet to catch up to where he leaves so no idea how well it holds up afterwards – I’m sure I’ll be unsubscribing).

Ralph recently created a new segment which captures a part of his being – one hit wonders.  I think we all have a guilty pleasure when it comes to one hit wonders but, for most of us, we only regurgitate the same bands and tracks – Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ “Come on Eileen” being at or near the top of most lists.  Ralph’s One Hit Wonder Wednesdays does it a little bit differently – these are tracks I don’t recall hearing.  So far anyway.  But after hearing them, I have found myself oddly addicted and so I figured I would keep an ongoing and updated list of tracks featured in this segment.

At the moment, “Vehicle” by Ides of March is getting a hammering on my Google Play Music.  Super addictive.  Ralph played a snippet of it on the 15th March episode and, because of great feedback, he decided to make it a weekly segment every Wednesday.

I’ve taken the liberty of creating a Google Play Music playlist, a YouTube Music playlist and a YouTube video playlist for songs featured on One Hit Wonder Wednesdays (it also includes songs that aren’t strictly one hit wonders but were featured on The Ralph Report).

So, without further ado, find some delightful gems below!
