Welcome to Prog 86 featuring ‘Strontium Dog‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Ro-Busters‘Â and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 14 October 1978.
Cover Art Robot: Dave Gibbons
Not only does the cover tease the thrills comprised within with a bit of a montage of the various tales, we see the first mention of “2000AD & Starlord” (as Starlord began to be absorbed into the 2000AD brand, with Tornado set to follow shortly afterwards).
My Pick of the Prog in this issue is ‘Strontium Dog‘.
Script Robot: TB Grover
Art Robot: Ezquerra
Lettering Robot: Pete Knight
There are only four thrills in this Prog but they are jam packed. And Strontium Dog is no exception. I’d heard of Johnny Alpha but this is my first time experiencing his world. From the interesting characters, a setting not so different to the anti-mutant fascism as told in X-Men, to the amazing artwork and character design, I think Strontium Dog is set to become another favourite of mine. Bear in mind, this is my first true experience of 2000AD so the vast majority of content is relatively unknown to me (aside from having heard of the names or the general premise). This was a thrill I thoroughly enjoyed and crave more of.
Prog 86 hunted for cash! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 87!
