Welcome to Prog 207 featuring ‘Tharg and the Creep Who Stole Croydon,  ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘, ‘Return to Armageddon‘, ‘Meltdown Man‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 11 April 1981.

Cover Art Robot: Dave Gibbons

Tharg ponders over the theft of Croydon on this weeks cover.

My pick of the Prog is: Judge Dredd

Script Robot: TB Grover

Art Robot: Ron Smith

Lettering Robot: Chopper MkII

Un-American Graffiti concludes with part two, where we discover the identity of The Phantom and Chopper gets caught and sent to the Juve-Cubes. I initially thought Dredd was The Phantom as a means of luring Chopper out, so I never even thought of this twist. I do think this tale could have spanned a couple more Progs, especially given how rife boredom is amongst the youths and how problematic the graffiti is but, all in all, it was a fun we story and I know this isn’t the last wee see of Chopper.

The wee smiley face that replaces the O in his name and what adorns the Judge Statue makes me wonder if this had any influence on the iconic badge splashed with blood in Watchmen.

Prog 207 carted off to the Juve-Cubes! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 208.

Florix Grabundae!
