EE Gift Like a Boss

I posted earlier in the month about EE’s ‘Gift like a boss’ Christmas promotion over on my Facebook page. Today, I received my free gift. Well, it’s not for me. It’s a joint prezzie from Santa to my girls. Seeing as I already own one…
I was a bit worried after I placed my order. I had initially requested one of my lines to be cancelled – it was taken out on a 24 month contract for a ‘Robin’ Android tablet and, 12 months in, the device was faulty and couldn’t be repaired – the charging port was faulty and was put down to accidental damage as the USB track was missing. It had previously been for repair for the same issue and was fixed but the second time I was told it couldn’t be fixed and a lengthy complaint ensued to which nothing happened and we were left with a SIM that was unused until we put it into my old phone for Seren, our eldest, to use.
Anyway, after putting in my 30 days notice to cancel, we decided to get a new phone for Seren as she had smashed the screen on my Galaxy S6 and I figured we should go for an Xperia (I’m not a fan of Xperia devices – my first Android device was the X10 which was dreadful) and be eligible to get a PS4 with Gran Turismo Sport. The call went well but I felt a bit uncertain as I wasn’t sure how it would be processed and flagged that I was eligible for the offer and had visions of returning within my cooling off period.
On day thirteen (after receiving the phone), I hit EE up on the digital chat to check I was definitely going to receive it as I had heard the PS4 deal had been pulled due to the sheer demand and Sony being unable to supply more consoles to meet the demand. I’d done the upgrade eight days in to the promotion so I kept telling myself it’d be fine. But luck is never really on our side in my family… The digital chat advisor confirmed the PS4 was on order and would hopefully be with me before Christmas. Hopefully. I use the word often but it always sticks in my craw when it comes to us – it usually means no chance.
So I tried not to think about it and it was easier said than done. I never normally get text messages. If I do, they’re usually to confirm my EE bill has been published or the school texting regarding various schooly things. This week my phone was being pelted my SMS from the school, my brother-in-law and a number of other senders which did my head in as I kept expecting a text from EE or DPD regarding the order. Nothing.
Then I thought, maybe they’ll text the number that was upgraded? Logical. Thankfully Seren is unable to use nor access any SMS sent to it otherwise the surprise would be rumbled.
Dan, my regular DPD delivery dude, knocked the door just as I was getting myself and Georgia ready to pick her big sisters up from school and I felt this surge of relief. I clocked the package and started to doubt – the box is smaller than a PS4 box? It HAS to be it; I’m not expecting anything else that would come via DPD! Maybe it’s because it’s the slim version – the box for mine was much bigger as it’s the original ‘phatty’.
And, reason stood true and fortune was on my side as I opened the plastic bag that sheathed this beauty:
I must say, I’m very impressed and super chuffed that EE not only fulfilled my order but managed to get it to me in time for Christmas!
As I said above, the PS4 part of the deal is over but there are still a ton of other items you can get – Google Home, Beats headphones, VR bundles and much more. Now, these are not to be confused with the Add to Plan options EE has – these goodies are free and are not attached to your bill in any shape or form. Ideal for a treat for yourself or a loved one.
