Welcome to Prog 10, our first foray into the double-digits, which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 30 April 1977.
I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.
For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.
‘Invasion!‘ has Savage and his men busting into Dartmoor Prison which is under Volgan control.
‘Flesh‘ has Old One Eye having a heart attack with all the excitement.
The ‘Harlem Heroes‘ dodge a bullet. Literally.
‘Dan Dare‘ gets caught in the midst of a star war.
‘M.A.C.H.1‘ goes all 007 down a piste in pursuit of another asset to be acquired.
And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Judge Dredd‘ takes on Call MeKenneth, a rogue robot who is on a mission for freedom. I loved the action in this story and Call Me Kenneth‘s zinger of “I have steel appeal”. I love the fact his whole name gets used most of the time, kinda like Colin Robinson in What We Do in the Shadows.
Prog 10 done. Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 11!
