Welcome to Prog 58 featuring ‘M.A.C.H.1‘, ‘Colony Earth‘, ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘, ‘Walter the Wobot‘, ‘Inferno!‘, ‘Dan Dare‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 1 April 1978.
‘Dan Dare‘ comes to and meets the Zeebs whose existence is also threatened by the creatures known as the Slurrgs and we get a glimpse of the Snappers – creatures that look like sprites in old arcade games crossed with Stephen King‘s ‘The Langoliers‘.
‘M.A.C.H.1‘ is on the run again and encounters a damsel in distress… But all is not what it seems…
‘Colony Earth‘ has Commander James Hunter try to get the captured saucer airborne to take out the alien platform wreaking havoc on Earth.
‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘ treats us to the folly of man using technology to further advance military capabilities but at what cost?
‘Inferno!‘ has the Hellcats setting off in their new liner after defeating the Sharks but there’s no rest for the wicked as our Heroes try to uncover the Syndicate who framed them in the match fixing debacle.
‘Walter the Wobot’ has Walter competing in Masterbrain, a futuristic spin on Mastermind (complete with a spin on the real-world host…). I’m including an image of this as it’s just too comical – right down to the German fella that looks a lot like a certain chap that lead the Nazis…
And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Judge Dredd‘ faces ‘Full Earth‘ – where crime shoots through the roof due to the cosmic effects.
Prog 58 KAPOWED! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 59!
