Welcome to Prog 244 featuring ‘Ace Trucking‘, ‘Tharg the Mighty‘, ‘Nemesis the Warlock‘, ‘The Mean Arena‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 26 December 1981.

Cover Art Robot: Massimo Belardinelli

Ace and crew are being lugjacked on this weeks cover!

My pick of the Prog is: Judge Dredd

Script Robot: TB Grover

Art Robot: B Bolland

Lettering Robot: S Potter

BLOCK MANIA concludes (ish) but not before it claims Judge Dredd himself (albeit his representation of Rowdy Yates Block is short-lived as he gets the antidote). Despite this episode feeling rushed in that Dredd literally apprehended Orlok and an antidote had been synthesised before Dredd even had a chance of partaking in some MANIA, I enjoyed the fact that something finally got to Dredd which, much like my previous post about Rogue Trooper, it shows he is not invulnerable and he’s not a machine as his demeanour and drive would have you believe. And, while BLOCK MANIA may be kinda over, it served as the gateway to The Apocalypse War!

Prog 244 lost to BLOCK MANIA! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 245.
