Welcome to Prog 65 featuring ‘M.A.C.H Zero‘, ‘Death Planet‘, ‘Inferno!‘, ‘Dan Dare‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 20 May 1978.

I’ve decided to change up the way I do these as I feel like it’s a mundane task and not really an enjoyable read so instead of giving a short synopsis of every strip, I will focus on my Pick of the Prog only. Feel free to drop a comment with your thoughts on the change and any other ideas.

This time around, my pick is ‘Judge Dredd‘.

Script Robot: Pat Mills

Art Robot: Brian Bolland

Lettering Robot: Tom Frame

Dredd continues his journey to Mega-City 2 through ‘Mutie Country’. Mutants rule this domain but, as far as ol’ Dredd is concerned, wherever there’s a Judge, there be law. Viewing this through eyes of today, my brain goes to things like Fallout and Mad Max: Fury Road among other things. I also love the fact that 20th century baked beans are considered a delicacy… Or the fact an actual car is being drawn by a horse. This strip is silly and fun but it’s also quite feasible nonetheless.

Prog 65 slurped up and burped out! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 66!

Florix Grabundae!
