Welcome to Prog 102 featuring ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘, ‘Robo-Hunter‘, ‘Ro-Busters‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 3 March 1979. Also, happy 2nd birthday 2000AD!

Cover Art Robot: Ian Gibson

Robo-Hunter makes the cover this week as Sam‘s game of fate continues…

My Pick of the Prog in this issue is ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘.

Script Robot: Alec Trench (R.I.P.)

Art Robot: Carlos Ezquerra

Lettering Robot: Pete Knight

I really enjoyed this delightfully woeful tale of Alec Trench desperately trying to get Tharg to publish one of his stories. Alec‘s appearance immediately made me think of a younger Alan Moore (who later wrote for 2000AD a few years later and will no doubt feature here in my blog). It’s a tragic tale but is all-too familiar in terms of people and their work rising in popularity posthumously.

Prog 102 takes a nose-dive to the streets below! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 103.
