Welcome to Prog 117 featuring ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Rick Random‘, ‘Strontium Dog‘, ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 16 June 1979.

Cover Art Robot: Ron Smith

Judge Dredd takes this weeks cover by storm!

My Pick of the Prog in this issue is ‘Judge Dredd‘. The past few posts have turned out have my picks be the cover stars as well – it’s not intentional and I’ve only just realised this as I type this out that that’s been the last three or four (possibly more) in a row?

Script Robot: John Howard

Art Robot: Ron Smith

Lettering Robot: Tom Frame

The artwork throughout this episode is truly outstanding but the writing is also on point. Again, as they would say on Prog Slog, “some good Dredd work”. The entire pursuit is all based on the fact the perp did a spot of littering but then added to his rap sheet in his flight from Mega-City 1‘s top lawman! It felt like something you’d see in a British sketch show like Big Train or the like.

Prog 117 flees the scene of the crime! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 118.
