Welcome to Prog 122 featuring ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘ABC Warriors‘, ‘Disaster 1990‘, ‘Project Overkill‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 21 July 1979.

Cover Art Robot: Kevin O’Neill

Another vibrant cover, this time featuring Dan Dare and looking very much like an advert for a toy which I most likely would have wanted as a kid!

My pick of the Prog is: Judge Dredd.

Script Robot: John Howard

Art Robot: Brian Bolland

Lettering Robot: Tom Frame

I know I pick Judge Dredd quite a lot but I think it’s all for good reason. And the reason this time around is how freakin’ cool is this story and the design of Father Earth? I had to Google who came first (not in the sexual way), Poison Ivy or Father Earth as there is a lot of common ground (not a pun). Turns out Ivy pre-dates the old codger by about thirteen years.

Anyway, the premise is fairly simple. The denizens of The Cursed Earth are on a mission to reclaim Mega-City 1 for nature and cleanse the land. And thus, terrorist plot unfolds as he and his army get set to attack.

Prog 122 enveloped in nature’s embrace! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 123.

Florix Grabundae!
