Welcome to Prog 121 featuring ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘ABC Warriors‘, ‘Disaster 1990‘, ‘Project Overkill‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 14 July 1979.

Cover Art Robot: Brian Bolland

Judge Dredd dominates on this cover as more shit is about to go down in Mega-City One.

My pick of the Prog is: Judge Dredd.

Script Robot: John Howard

Art Robot: Ron Smith

Lettering Robot: Tom Frame

Another episode where we see Judge Dredd as a person as opposed to this mindless, driven law dealing machine. In this ‘Tale From Walter’s Scwapbook‘ we get another glimpse at the kind and compassionate side of Joe Dredd. Something we rarely get to witness and, when we do, it’s somewhat short-lived. And this tale is no exception. A kid called Ralphy who idolises Judge Dredd is laying dress-up, impersonating Dredd and doing himself a mischief. Dredd convinces Judge Griffin to allow Ralphy to train as a Judge despite being too old. Dredd soon comes to regret this and breaks poor Ralphy‘s heart. But he still maintains a god relationship with him…

Prog 121 flunked outta Judge Academy! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 122.
