Welcome to Prog 197 featuring ‘Dash Decent,  ‘The Mean Arena‘, ‘Return to Armageddon‘, ‘Meltdown Man‘, ‘Strontium Dog‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 31 January 1981.

Cover Art Robot: Brian Bolland

This cover goes nuclear as Mega-City One is attacked!

My pick of the Prog is: Return to Armageddon

Script Robot: Malcolm Shaw

Art Robot: Johnny Johnson

Lettering Robot: Bill Nuttall

I haven’t really enjoyed Return to Armageddon much up until this point but I loved these collector robots and their flawed logic. On a mission to observe and collect specimens across the galaxies, despite their makers and home world being destroyed, they continue onwards for a goal that has no value aside from the fact it’s what they have been programmed to do. They’re like a more science-y Beavis and Butt-head.

Prog 197 suspended in time! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 198.

Florix Grabundae!
