2000ADHD – A Prog a Day – Prog 30

Welcome to Prog 30 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Shako!‘, ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 17 September 1977.

I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.

For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.

Invasion!‘ takes the high road as we head to the Highlands.

Shako!‘ sees the Russians take the bear onto their whaling ship and they already know about the capsule in his belly!?

Dan Dare‘ continues his exploration of The Lost Worlds as another hunt for a lost ship takes place and they face off against a living planet made of sand.

M.A.C.H.1‘ seeks out a downed UFO.

Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘ gives us a history lesson involving Earth but from a different perspective.

And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Judge Dredd‘ introduces us to Rico – Judge Dredd‘s evil clone/brother. I loved this strip as I was waiting for Rico‘s appearance but I wish this had spanned more progs as opposed to being wrapped up in the one strip. I especially loved the line “He ain’t heavy – he’s my brother” – a nice little nod to The Hollies‘ song.

Prog 30 pulped! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 31!
