Welcome to Prog 72 featuring ‘M.A.C.H Zero‘, ‘Ant Wars‘, ‘Inferno!‘, ‘Dan Dare‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 8 July 1978.

Cover Art Robot: Mike McMahon

This cover always fascinated me as I was clueless as to why a clown was seemingly tucking into Judge Dredd. I had no idea of the Burger Wars or anything like that and the cover always struck me as being like Tim Curry‘s rendition of Pennywise from Stephen King’s IT.

My Pick of the Prog in this issue is ‘Inferno!‘.

Script Robot: Tom Tully

Art Robot: Belardinelli

Lettering Robot: Peter Knight

The Hellcats are on their way to try and save Giant from the evil Syndicate – the nasty folks behind the match fixing scandal of which the Hellcats were accused, and subsequently vindicated, of. Oh what fresh Hell they find themselves in as Giant is rigged to blow should he get hit by the Inferno ball (or any other form of contact really). I particularly love the style of the Wolves of Death – with heads that remind me of GWAR.

Prog 72 pummelled! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 73!
