Welcome to Prog 242 featuring ‘Ace Trucking‘, ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘, ‘The Mean Arena‘, ‘Rogue Trooper‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 12 December 1981.
Cover Art Robot: Brian Bolland
Orlok, the assassin responsible for unleashing BLOCK MANIA stands his ground against incoming Judges on this weeks cover!
My pick of the Prog is: Rogue Trooper
Script Robot: Gerry Finley-Day
Art Robot: Mike Dorey
Lettering Robot: Bill Nuttall
Rogue remains on the run from the Norts who are on his tail and heads north to the polar caps. After downing a Nort aircraft which had picked him up on the scanner, the heat from the flaming wreck melts the permafrost revealing a plant which seems to bring a smile to his face (something I’m sure we’ll rarely or ever see again). But, the plant soon wipes the smile off his face as it renders him paralysed. It seems the nearly unstoppable G.I. has his own form of Kryptonite? I haven’t read much Rogue Trooper and most of my knowledge still comes from the videogame but it’s good to see he has vulnerabilities and he has proper stakes in the game.
Prog 242 succumbs to flora poisoning! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 243.
