That Fat Boy Slims – The Ketogenic Diet – Day 28
I was super tired this morning when I woke up. My head felt so heavy and I ached from head to toe. Weird, considering I felt like I had a pretty good nights sleep as it was cooler last night than it has been the past few. I moved, sloth-like up outta bed and weighed. 1lb gained. This 1lb on and off shit is boring. But at least it’s not a massive gain, I guess. The weight loss isn’t my priority, as ironic as that sounds. I want to maintain my positive feeling, better mental health and the physical benefits this lifestyle is giving me.
I didn’t have a coffee this morning and wished I had. I took the rest of my butter chicken curry to work and my almonds. I never touched the almonds at all. I fasted for about seventeen hours and ended up having a coffee in work around the fourteen hour mark to try and stave off the hunger as I started to struggle a bit.
Today went a lot quicker and it was a good day overall. I got a shit ton of work done (my entire workload which doesn’t happen very often) whilst having a laugh. My energy levels picked up as the day went on but I hit a revelation after lunch. I popped open my Moose Juice around 14:00 and I felt… different. I think it was the sweetener (sucralose) in it as my heart rate seemed to increase and I’m guessing I felt the physical manifestation of my blood sugar spiking. So I have decided that, once I’ve drank what remains of my supply (one or two cans) I won’t be having any more and will have to make do with black coffee on its tod. Because I’m not 100% sure of when/if I am in ketosis, I can’t afford to have something kick me out of it so I need to nip this in the bud. It’s the first time I’ve sensed it but I can’t risk the effects even if it’s an intermittent thing.
For dinner I had gammon, spicy chilli sausages and bacon. Or, in other words, a whole pig. It was nice and, surprisingly I still felt hungry so I had more of our strawberry keto icecream. A nice way to finish my working weekend. Two days off and I plan on getting a few meals prepped and frozen. We have the triple slow cooker plus our big slow cooker too so I can get four slow cooker meals done and start stocking the fridge and freezer up. I may even try the kids on some of it for their dinner to have a keto family meal time.
