That Fat Boy Slims – The Ketogenic Diet – Day 3
Today was my first day back in work since I was ill last Tuesday – I also had the weekend off on annual leave for my birthday and Father’s Day (also my Mum’s birthday). It was also my first day in work since starting this ketogenic diet. The headache was still there and progressively worsened to the point where I caved in and took some paracetamol which I had hoped to avoid.
I decided to stick to some of my norms for work until I get settled in with the diet – as standard, I take a tub with grapes, carrots cut into sticks and clementines for a makeshift breakfast that I just pick at throughout the morning. So I retained that. After inputting it into My Fitness Pal last night prior, I soon realised that my macros are battered – carbs skyrocketed thanks to the grapes, mainly.
For lunch, I typically have two sandwiches with ham, lettuce and cucumber. This has been cut out completely with no substitute.
‘Dinner’ consists of three slices of ham with lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. I have kept this for now.
I ditched the Alpen bars completely and retained the apple and banana as well as the yoghurt (Muller corner) and I also packed two homemade chocolate peanut butter fat bombs. One of which totally melted so it was no good – for fuck’s sake!
Dinner proper, after work, was turkey breasts with cauliflower cheese and cabbage. Thankfully this tipped my fat content more towards target but my carbs are till too high. I had another fat bomb just to try and get it closer to where it should be – not sure if I should do this but I’ll figure out what works for me over time.
I am quite disappointed with myself today as these results but it’s still new and at least my fat consumption is a lot higher than I usually do and my carbs are certainly a lot lower. But I know I can and I will do better. A lot of the fruit and the yoghurts etc. will be cut out once they’re gone – I figured I’ll get them all eaten out of the way and then re-assess what snacks I can have in work such as chunks of cheese and whatnot.
I do feel smaller today, though. My T-shirt felt pretty baggy on my and my stomach, which is normally quite solid, feels pretty soft and jelly-like so I’m certainly seeing an improvement in terms of not being bloated. Provided it’s not psychosomatic, then this is pretty encouraging.
I had a couple instances this morning where I felt sick and when I was walking home from work, I felt a bit woozy and my legs were like jelly for a spell. Overall though, the walk home felt better than usual – my calves didn’t ache at all like they usually do and once I got going, my back even felt a lot better.
At bed times, I have now opted to reduce my Mirtazapine to half a tablet (15mg) to see how I get on and hope to stop taking them completely in the next week or two, circumstances permitting.
I currently use Muscle Food and their amazing deals on meat hampers. If you want to grab yourself a great deal, head over here.
Additional supplements such as Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil etc. we get from Holland & Barett.
