Welcome to Prog 16 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 11 June 1977.
I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.
For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.
‘Invasion!‘ sees Bill Savage lured into a trap and mucho pun work (Spanish for many puns).
‘Flesh‘ sees utter bedlam and the demise of Earl Reagan. I’m not convinced that’s him gone but I’m probably wrong.
‘Dan Dare‘ undergoes interrogation via the means of some sort of gelatinous blob.
‘M.A.C.H.1‘ is ensnared in The Devil’s Triangle against a sinister mastermind called Adolf.
‘Judge Dredd‘ fights the good fight against Call Me Kenneth and his army of homicidal robots and cooks up a (lightning) storm.
And my “Pick of the Prog“: The ‘Harlem Heroes‘ face Gorgon’s Gargoyles – a team of, what can only be described as, Frankenstein’s monsters. I loved the page shown below, especially the almost Hush-esque bandaged face and plot reveal for Artie‘s plan (well, not technically his).
Prog 16 in the bag! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 17!
