Welcome to Prog 21 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Shako!‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 16 July 1977.
I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.
For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.
‘Shako!‘ continues with Falmuth ‘Foulmouth’ flying out to a boat, very reminiscent of Jaws.
The ‘Harlem Heroes‘ see the last of Artie Gruber. Or do they?
‘Dan Dare‘ fights his way to the council only to find the Chairman already knew everything.
‘M.A.C.H.1‘ thwarts some weird plot to immortality.
‘Judge Dredd‘ shows some perps the sky isn’t the limit.
And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Invasion!‘. I loved the dark twist on clay pigeon shooting. The puns and word play in this strip is top tier. I was starting to get bored of the same hum-drum Volg/Britisher fare but this has rekindled my interest!Prog 21 juiced! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 22!
