Cover Art Robot: Kevin O’Neill

Torquemada questions a planets purity on this weeks cover.

My pick of the Prog is: Nemesis the Warlock

Script Robot: Pat Mills

Art Robot: Kevin O’Neill

Lettering Robot: Steve Potter

After a much anticipated wait, I finally reach the Nemesis story-line proper! Although, we don’t see the titular figure in this Prog. BUT, we do meet the ghostly form of Torquemada who lost his physical form after the teased run-ins with Nemesis in Progs 167178 and 179. A cross between the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, the Salem Witch Trials and the KKK, the Terminators aim to “cleanse” the universe by exterminating any alien lifeforms they come across. It also makes me wonder if the Necromongers took inspiration from this in The Chronicles of Riddick. This is another mirror held up to the face of fascism and xenophobia/bigotry as well as anti-authoritarianism that 2000 AD does incredibly well.

Prog 222 sentenced for cleansing! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 223.

Florix Grabundae!
