That Fat Boy Slims – The Ketogenic Diet – Day 30

Jeez.  My energy levels in the morning are dire.  I struggled to get up this morning and my body was aching – no idea why as I didn’t do weights or exert myself yesterday.  What the fudge is going on?  I staggered downstairs on jelly-legs and weighed – I’m 1lb down!  Not a rogue 1lb that goes on and comes back off, I’m down to 15st 4lbs for the first time since starting this way of life.  Nice.

I skipped a bulletproof coffee again today and fasted until around 14:00 when I had ham, salad, home-made keto friendly coleslaw and some hard-boiled eggs.  It was stunning.  And, my wife is better at presentation than me.  I don’t bother.  Food is food, like.

I’ve been struggling throughout the day with low energy, heart palpitations and a headache which I’m putting down to the tiredness as I’ve been drinking plenty and I’ve stuck with my magnesium daily.  In fact, I upped it this morning because of how tired I felt in case it was a magnesium deficiency.  No impact at all.

I’ve spent most of the day cooking.  I’ve cooked up a batch of chicken tikka masala and hamburger soup from the Keto Slow Cooker & One-Pot Meals cookbook.  Two main meals cooked today – fuck, it’s difficult enough getting me to do one most days.  Despite the low energy, this lifestyle change has definitely made improvements here and there.

According to the breathalyser, I wasn’t in ketosis this morning or in the afternoon before I ate.  I was disheartened until I saw a Dr Berg video about how long it takes to get into ketosis and it made me feel a lot better.

I had planned to do weights today but I just didn’t have the time.  Between the school runs, my wife’s dentist appointment, shopping and the cooking and cleaning I have been rushed off my feet.  This, of course, hasn’t helped with my feeling of exhaustion.

The kids had their first keto dinner with us – we had the hamburger soup.  Talia and Georgia barely touched it – the fact there were a lot of peppers in it put them off.  This kinda pissed me off as I honestly can’t see why people don’t like peppers.  There’s not a lot to them.  Oh well.  Seren loved it and Lauren ate it all aside from the peppers (evidently, this is where the kids get this shit from) and I really enjoyed it too.  I’m glad, as I was worried about fucking it up like I did the brownie last night!

We also bought some Himalayan Salt and Epsom Salt from Home Bargains earlier so, after I shaved my head and face, I had a nice soak in the tub with some Epsom Salt.  I felt pretty good after it and my knee, which has been playing up for the past week, started to feel pretty decent.  I may try the Himalayan one tomorrow…

I made some cauliflower rice ready for taking my chicken tikka in to work tomorrow.  The tikka smells like the real deal so I just hope it tastes great too (I haven’t even tested it).

I’ll be sure to provide a report tomorrow as to how the tikka is!

I previously used Muscle Food and their amazing deals on meat hampers.  I stopped because their meat is low in fat but if you’re not following keto but want to eat great quality meat, grab yourself a great deal and head over here.

Additional supplements such as Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil etc. we get from Holland & Barrett.
