Welcome to Prog 13 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 21 May 1977.
I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.
For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.
‘Invasion!‘ gives us King Charles III who has fled to Canada and is broadcasting on a forbidden frequency to arrange assistance in Britain.
The ‘Harlem Heroes‘ are in trouble as The Flying Scotsmen are scoring while the Heroes give it their all and still come up short.
‘Dan Dare‘ reveals Mekon‘s unsavoury plan as he plots against the trade federation in conjunction with the Two of Verath.
‘M.A.C.H.1‘ almost goes nuclear as a terrorist threat hijacks an airship above Manhattan.
‘Judge Dredd‘ and Walter the vending machine robot head into Call Me Kenneth‘s territory all incognito like.
And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Flesh‘. Yes. Again. This time because I just loved how this fella has to tell us that he’s having such a lovely dream so that we, the readers, know he’s sleeping and not just lying in bed. But boy is he in for a shock of the eight-legged variety.
Prog 13 devoured! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 14!
