Welcome to Prog 12 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 14 May 1977.

I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.

For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.

Invasion!‘ has our man Savage and co don some disguises and then demolish a death camp.

The ‘Harlem Heroes‘ gear up to take on The Flying Scotsmen. SCOTLAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!

Dan Dare‘ comes back to England but not as he knew it. Or us for that matter.

M.A.C.H.1‘ is put to the test as the Americans reckon they have a far superior weapon to a MACH Man.

Judge Dredd‘ and the other Judges tackle the robot crisis, including the Heavy Metal Kids.

And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Flesh‘. Everything has gone Pete Tong. The flesh-eaters break in and the subterranean spiders rise up. Although that’s not why I picked this story. No, I picked it because it’s very rare you see someone name the shark from Jaws correctly. Aside from the homage in Finding Nemo and hearing Kevin Smith reference it in his podcasts and such, I know if no one else who knows its name. And so, to the writer of this particular strip, I applaud you. Thank you for honouring such an iconic creature in a scene that is all too fitting for Bruce himself.Prog 12 digested! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 13!
