Welcome to Prog 19 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 2 July 1977.

I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.

For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.

Invasion!‘ has Savage struggling with authority and going all ‘lone wolf’.

Flesh‘ says farewell to a key character.

The ‘Harlem Heroes‘ gets explosive and in-fighting may get the better of the team.

Dan Dare‘ makes good his escape but finds himself hampered while Mekon operates on The Two of Verath.

M.A.C.H.1‘ sees some non-politically correct antics with a Japanese soldier fending off land developers while Probe tries to save him.

And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Judge Dredd‘. I know he’s had the pick the last few occasions but for good reason! I loved this strip especially the backwardness of the law given that Dredd‘s punishment for a crim polluting the air is blowing up his car. Yet another stark reminder at the hypocrisy of the law and the short-sightedness of “justice”.Prog 19 foamed up and ready for the cubes! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 20!
