Welcome to Prog 18 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 25 June 1977.
I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.
For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.
‘Invasion!‘ sees Savage dishing out food from the back of a truck and then being sniffed out by an ex-detective for the Brits.
‘Flesh‘ gives us a human/Tyrannosaur hybrid in the 23rd century.
The ‘Harlem Heroes‘ continue their match against Gorgon’s Gargoyles with ex teammate Artie Gruber looking to give us some bang for our buck.
‘Dan Dare‘ falls to his not-death as he makes good his escape and Mekon struggles to keep him and Rok grounded.
‘M.A.C.H.1‘ smashes into a hotel to save a South American president.
And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Judge Dredd‘ yet again. This time taking on an illegal Brainbloom grower. The story was daft but I just loved how it ends with Dredd giving us some inadvertent humour in the final panel and the riot foam and the wordy explanation as to what it’s for/how it works.
Prog 18 foamed up and ready for the cubes! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 19!
