Welcome to Prog 81 featuring ‘Ant Wars‘, ‘Robo-Hunter’, ‘Tharg’s Future-Shocks‘, ‘Dan Dare‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 9 September 1978.

Cover Art Robot: Dave Gibbons

Dan Dare proclaimed ‘Guardian of the Galaxy’. I thought this was pretty cool given how Starlord (comics) was folded into 2000AD (it hasn’t happened as of yet in terms of my Progress) and then this wording thrown in the mix.

My Pick of the Prog in this issue is ‘Robo-Hunter‘.

Script Robot: TB Grover

Art Robot: Ian Gibson

Lettering Robot: Steve Potter

As I mentioned before, I could see Robo-Hunter becoming a favourite of mine and I couldn’t maintain that enough here. I am thoroughly enjoying my time with Sam Slade so far and I particularly love the panel included below with him and a woman on each arm. I got strong Duke Nukem vibes here – albeit a much tamer, suitable for kids Duke Nukem but still… Just need him to say “Come get some!”

Prog 81 defragged! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 82!
