Welcome to Prog 4 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 19 March 1977.

I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.

For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.

Invasion!‘ reveals the resistance’s setup and Savage outs a Volg spy!

Flesh‘ brings us to Carver City and oozes your standard Western/cowboy themes as well as a dash of Westworld.

Harlem Heroes‘ reveals Zack’s fate from the cliff-hanger last Prog. A stern talk soon changes the trajectory of the Heroes’ game.

Dan Dare‘ is on Jupiter and meets some hostile aliens…

M.A.C.H.1‘ takes us to “Irania” and your typical James Bond style interrogation/escape.

And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Judge Dredd‘! Dredd crosses paths with the ‘Brotherhood of Darkness‘ and we see a funny moment when Dredd dons a robe of the Brotherhood (over his Judge uniform, of course) and dishes out some more justice. Overall the story was fun and conveyed a lot in such few pages and helps flesh out the world of Dredd as we get to see more of his day-to-day.

So that wraps up Prog 4, join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 5!

Florix Grabundae!
