Welcome to Prog 7 which features ‘Invasion!‘, ‘Flesh‘, ‘Dan Dare‘, ‘Harlem Heroes‘, ‘M.A.C.H.1‘ and ‘Judge Dredd‘, published on 9 April 1977.

I’ve been struggling with figuring out how to format these posts in the sense of listing the stories in the order they’re printed or just keeping my favourite until last. Not sure what makes for better reading or if anyone who reads this just wants to see what my pick is and then buggers off? Let me know in the comments what you prefer.

For now, I think I’ll stick to the order in which they appear for the most part an put my favourite at the end.

Flesh‘ showed us what wearable tech looked like as well as how hell bent Old One Eye was on seeking revenge on Earl Reagan.

Harlem Heroes‘ continues the slog-fest between the Heroes and the Russians and Giant has some jetpack issues.

Dan Dare‘ swings an alien axe that is trying to kill him while struggling with the Biogs.

M.A.C.H.1‘ “checks in” to a hotel to try and grab an asset.

Judge Dredd‘ has the monumental task of taking down some perps at the Statue of Judgment.

And my “Pick of the Prog“: ‘Invasion!‘ I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It reminded me of when I was a kid and watching old war movies and whatnot on Channel 4 (back when we had only four terrestrial channels). It could easily have had Steve McQueen or whoever else was typecast in those roles back then. I loved the comical lifting of the barrier, letting the truck on to the track and then dropping the barrier back down. Especially given that a military truck could no doubt bust through it but they were frozen like a deer in headlights.

And that does it for Prog 7! Join me on the next one to see who/what grabs the pick of Prog 8!
